How my timeshare suddenly became the best investment I’ve ever made
and the system I use to make $10k+ a year with it, in less than 5 minutes per day.
It was the moment I realized my timeshare was ruining my life.
I was standing in the entryway with a stack of unopened mail, ripping open the envelopes one at a time.
But what happened next, completely caught me off guard.
I opened my timeshare’s maintenance fee bill and saw that it was higher than the year before.
My first thought was, “Wait a minute, the salesman never mentioned that the maintenance fees could change. I thought they’d always stay the same.”
It made me feel lied to…not directly, I guess…it was more like a lie of omission…but still, it made me angry.
And then I thought back over the last year and realized that we hadn’t used our timeshare since we purchased it. So we were paying for something we weren’t even using…which just added insult to injury and felt like we were throwing good money after bad.
And then I remembered how my husband had clearly said, “No, I don’t want to buy a timeshare” when we were in the meeting with the timeshare salesman.
But I had talked him into it...this was my fault.
Staring at this bill now brought all the memories flooding back to me of how we’d gotten into this situation and I felt guilty, like I’d made a bad decision.
And the moment I realized what this bill really represented caused my stomach to flip flop. “If the maintenance fees keep going up every year, how high will they be 10 years from now, 20 years from now, and when we want to pass on the timeshare to our kids?”
As my anxiety rose, I wondered, “How are we going to stay ahead of these rising maintenance fees, especially after we retire and we’re on a fixed income?”
I began to panic inside. “How could I hide this bill from my husband?” I didn’t want to feel the guilt and shame of the words I knew he would say to me, “I told you so!”
But it was inevitable that he would see it because he was in charge of paying the bills.
So I handed it to him and said, “Honey, I just got our annual timeshare maintenance fee bill…”and braced myself for his outburst.
Suffice it to say, my worst fears were realized. It was almost like I was psychic because my husband echoed all of my thoughts, worries and fears back to me.
Even though I had expected it, it didn’t make it any easier to hear.
He finished his tirade with the words, “This is your problem. Do something about it!”
“So I started looking for a way to get out of it, but there just weren’t any good options.”
My first thought was to sell it. But no one was willing to pay anything close to what we had bought it for.
And to sell it, I would first have to pay off the loan balance, plus cover the buyer’s closing costs, which would mean I would be losing thousands of dollars, just to get someone to take it off my hands.
So next I hired a lawyer who charged me thousands of dollars and told me the secret to getting out of my timeshare was to stop paying the maintenance fees.
The lawyer explained, “The reason why this strategy works so well is because if you don’t pay, the timeshare will send you to collections and eventually foreclose. So what if it ruins your credit?” he said. “At least you’ll be out of your timeshare!”
When I discovered the truth about how lawyers get you out of your timeshare, it was shocking…and a little disturbing. Talk about a scam! If that’s the secret to getting out of a timeshare, then I could stop making payments all on my own, without paying a fancy lawyer, thank-you-very-much!!!
But it’s not worth it to me to ruin my credit. So that option was out.
Then the thought occurred to me, “If that’s how it plays out when you don’t pay your maintenance fees, then why not just ask the timeshare to take it back?”
That way we can skip the part where we go through the long, drawn-out process of going to collections, foreclosing, ruining my credit and all that nonsense. It's faster for the timeshare, less painful for me, and it's the same end result.
So I called my timeshare and said, “How about you just take it back and we call it even?” To which they politely declined.
Well, at least I tried.
“Just as I was about to give up, I found a solution that changed everything.”
See, the person that I spoke to in the timeshare ownership department offered me another solution.
She told me that they had an internal rental program designed specifically to help owners offset the cost of their maintenance fees by renting out their unused points. That way, they wouldn’t go to waste.
Well that seemed like an excellent option, except for the fact that they were going to keep 40% of the proceeds.
Which made me wonder, “What if I find my OWN guests and keep all of the profits for myself…that way I won’t have to split them with a middle man.”
So I decided to figure it out on my own...
I started by researching which platform I was going to use to advertise on.
I discovered that there were dozens of ways to advertise a timeshare for rent on the internet and it would take a lot of trial and error to figure out which one worked best. Not to mention figuring out how to get the pictures for the advertisement, how much to charge the guests, how to make sure they could check-in smoothly and how to collect the money. Argh!
I was starting to feel overwhelmed by all of the questions that were coming up, that I didn’t have answers to.
I was so frustrated to the point where I was about ready to give up on the whole thing.
But before I did, I decided to try a different approach.
"What if I could find someone who had already done it, who was willing to take the time to walk me through it step by step and teach me how to do it…?"
So I searched on, ‘how to rent my timeshare’ and that’s when I discovered the Timeshare Rental Academy.
They had a free training video that helped me understand what all the moving parts were. It was easy to follow and even made it fun, like learning a new game.
After I enrolled in the Timeshare Rental Academy and followed their step-by-step system for setting up a semi-automated timeshare rental system, from that point on, everything started to shift.
"For the first time in years, I felt good about my decision to invest in a timeshare”
My timeshare was paying for itself so we could stay ahead of the rising maintenance fees.
We could take free vacations with the profits my timeshare rental income produced.
And I had succeeded in turning my timeshare into an income-producing asset that I could pass on to my kids.
But the best part was when my husband saw the deposits into our account and said, “Whatever you’re doing, keep doing it!”
“Enrolling in the Timeshare Rental Academy was the best thing I could have ever done for myself and my family”
If you’re anything like I was, overwhelmed, ashamed and feeling stuck with a timeshare…please know this:
You made a good decision to purchase a timeshare. And you can have the best of all worlds:
You can keep taking affordable vacations (because a timeshare is a great way to make your vacation dollars stretch).
And you can keep making special memories with your family as you pass on family values and a love for travel, all while renting a portion of your weeks, credits or points, so your timeshare pays for itself.
The problem is, the timeshare makes it complicated to use. I mean, they make up so many rules for using your points or weeks. And they make up rules for where you can or can’t stay...and when!
And they love to add in more fees along the way when you're making a reservation.
But at the end of the day, there is a profitable path through the rules, no matter how complicated they try to make it.
And the Timeshare Rental Academy has the proven system for renting any timeshare safely and profitably.
It is so satisfying when you can turn the tables on the timeshares and get the full enjoyment out of it; everything they promised and more!
So if you’re ready to stop feeling stuck and start feeling proud of the decision you made to buy a timeshare…
Then watch the free training video to learn how to manage your timeshare like the investment that it is, and put it to work for you. If you do, the next 30 minutes may just change your life, the way it did mine.
